Estyn

Statement by the Chair of Governors

Dear Friends,

I am proud to report to you about Estyn's visit to Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle in November 2022. The report identifies the school's strengths and confirms that the school's plans for the future are suitable and positive.

Very good practice was recognised across the school and that the learners are the focal point of the school. Specific reference was made to pupils' contribution to school life and the inspectors referred to the closeness of the children of Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle and this was described as something completely unique.

Since September 2022 the school has been under the care of our new headteacher and firm plans have been in place since the start of this term. Hard work was underway before Estyn's visit but it is fair to acknowledge that incredible work took place leading up to Estyn's visit in a very tight timetable. The headteacher has described to me the support she received from all members of staff and especially from the Senior Management Team.

As Chair of the Governing Body I congratulate the school on receiving a positive and encouraging report. I sincerely thank all the school staff for their dedication to ensure this success. Most of all I thank the pupils of Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle for ensuring that Estyn inspectors left to our school truly believing that there is 'Nowhere like Nantlle'.

Regards

Sarah Lloyd Evans

Statement by the Headmistress

Dear member of the Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle community,

I am very pleased to be able to publish Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle's recent Inspection Report for your attention. As a school, we are very proud of this report as Estyn has recognised and praised the school's strengths, improvements and recent positive developments, and has confirmed how happy and safe our pupils and staff feel as a result of the strength and the effectiveness of our well-being  and safeguarding procedures. It was also a pleasure to hear our pupils, especially our Sixth Form pupils, being praised for the valuable contribution they make to the school community.

We already have solid action plans in place to respond to Estyn's recommendations and we look forward to continuing to develop and disseminate the good practices identified in order to continue to improve the educational provision and the experiences available to our pupils and to members of the school community. I would like to thank you all once again for all your support during the last term and I look forward to continuing to work together with you to continue realising our vision of 'creating a unique inclusive secondary school which ensures personal success for all its pupils and its staff in a supportive and safe environment. "Nunlle fel Nantlle" - Succeeding Together!'

Attached is a copy of the summary of the report in Welsh and English for your attention and the full report can be seen on the school’s website .
